16 in x 20 in
Acrylic on canvas
This powerful piece has several significant elements of the unfortunate encounter of two worlds. The spear with no complete form and no end attacking from behind symbolizes the senseless violence inspired by greed. The dark brown tones surrounding the conquistador are death itself. And Chia (the moon for the Muisca people), despite its pain and sorrow, extends her comforting rays to remind her son that she, the lagoon and him will still be one.
